Daily Inspiration for Family Caregivers

Nurturing Faith and Caregiving

Join us on a journey of spiritual growth as we challenge one another to live boldly for Christ while caregiving.

**I couldn’t help looking up a handful of scriptures that focus on the heart since February is heart awareness month. If you read the About  page on this website, you will know that heart health is an important subject in my family. Granted, heart awareness month focuses on our physical heart, but I want to remind everyone that your spiritual heart health matters even more.

Reflecting on Scripture

Daily Devotion:

“A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.” Proverbs 15:13 ESV

What fills our hearts shows on our faces. Joy is not only an emotion to show, but the evidence of the life we have in and through Christ. Likewise, sorrow dampens our mood, and shifts the focus from God to our troubles.

A glad heart is not the result of perfect circumstances. We all have bad days– difficult choices to make or perhaps grief for the life we wish we were living. Joy shows that your life is rooted in trust. You trust the Lord to fulfill his promises. You trust that God is providing for your needs. You trust that he has a steadfast love for you and guides you as the Shepherd guides his sheep.

Life brings grief, disappointments, and hardship. Don’t let these moments carry you away from the Lord. Surrender your burdens to him and allow the Holy Spirit to provide the strength you need to get through each day. Let hope be restored and live with a cheerful heart.

A Prayer for Guidance

Prayer of Thanks and for Joy

Heavenly Father, help me to lay my burdens at the foot of the cross and focus my eyes on you instead of my circumstances. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as a caregiver.  Fill me with hope and joy so that I can glad for every moment with my loved one. Renew my strength every morning. Do not allow my spirit to be crushed, but overflow with the goodness and mercy you show your children. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
