Daily Inspiration for Family Caregivers

Nurturing Faith and Caregiving

Join us on a journey of spiritual growth as we challenge one another to live boldly for Christ while caregiving.

**I couldn’t help looking up a handful of scriptures that focus on the heart since February is heart awareness month. If you read the About  page on this website, you will know that heart health is an important subject in my family. Granted, heart awareness month focuses on our physical heart, but I want to remind everyone that your spiritual heart health matters even more.

Reflecting on Scripture

Daily Devotion:

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” John 14: 1 ESV

On the eve of his arrest and crucifixion,  Jesus prepares his disciples for the change ahead. He tells them to not let their hearts be troubled even though he knows that the events to come will be difficult, shake them to their foundation.

Did you notice that Jesus doesn’t deny that trouble exists in this world? One of the largest deceptions being preached to Christians today is that you won’t have any problems if you follow Jesus. What a tragedy for  believers, like family caregivers, who are going through difficult times.

The invitation Jesus offers is not a way to control your circumstances, but a place to put your trust. Unlike the disciples who still didn’t understand God’s plan, you can look ahead with peace and hope knowing that Jesus gave up his life on the cross, but rose again and is preparing a place for you. Whatever burdens your heart today, know that God hears your prayers. He is faithful to complete the work he begins. Seek his will in your life, allowing him to renew your heart and mind, so that you love the things he loves. Abide in the Lord every day, through every circumstance. And don’t let your heart be troubled.

A Prayer for Guidance

Prayer for Hope and Peace

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son to be the way, the truth, and the life. Help me to remember his sacrifice and fill me with the hope of salvation. Replace the fear I have in my heart with your peace. Guide me as I walk through life’s trials so that my heart isn’t troubled with the things of this world. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
